Lending Awards Program Adds Low/Modest Means Category

MADISON, Wis. – A low/modest means lending category is now featured in the >seventh annual Credit Union Excellence in Lending Awards, which spotlights the innovative approaches taken by credit unions to extend credit to those who are often overlooked.

Nominations are now being accepted for the awards program, which is sponsored by the CUNA Lending Council and CUNA Mutual Group, to recognize credit unions for outstanding lending results.

In addition to the single low/modest means lending category open to credit unions of any asset size, awards will be presented in four additional categories. Two consumer lending awards will be honored, with a category for credit unions with less than $250 million in assets and a category for credit unions with assets of $250 million or greater. Two mortgage lending awards will also be awarded following the same asset size categories as the consumer lending awards.

Submissions will be evaluated based on strategy, programs, and performance.

Applications are due by Friday, July 28, 2006. Winners will be recognized at the Lending Council’s annual meeting, Nov. 12-15, 2006, in Indian Wells, Calif.
