"Winning the Excellence in Lending award made our credit union feel like all of our hard work and effort was being noticed at the national level.  Two of our employees were able to attend the 2009 CUNA Lending Council Conference in San Diego.  This was a great opportunity for them to network with other credit union lenders, as well as vendors.  We are currently looking into several products that were introduced by the vendors at the CUNA Lending Council Conference.  Through the conference they were also able to get a lot of new ideas regarding different approaches to lending.  It was a valuable experience for them and our credit union when they came back and shared the information with us.

The award meant a lot to our credit union.  For one, it meant that we were finally out of the recovery phase of Hurricane Katrina and we were back on to the growth and development phase.  All of our employees felt a sense of accomplishment for all of the work that went into making the necessary changes in our lending program.  Our employees realized that all of the new things they were learning and new tasks they were performing were making a difference for our members and that our programs and policies would set examples for other credit unions.  All of our employees and our Board of Directors were very excited about being part of the top group of lenders in the credit union industry.

We would highly recommend that other credit unions submit applications for the Excellence in Lending Award.  It will give them a chance to review all of their accomplishments over the course of a year and showcase them on a national level.  It will help in building the morale of the entire staff because they can all feel that they contributed in one way or another to the success of the credit union."

"Being able to attend the CUNA Lending Conference to accept this award was the best part of this experience. I not only learned from the speakers, but I had the opportunity to meet other award winners, talk about their successes and share ideas that have helped us to grow our business lending department.  

It's an incredible honor to receive the Excellence in Lending award. The success of our lending program was obtained through the dedication and hard work of all our employees, and to be recognized for our efforts is truly an honor.     

This award was especially important for our credit union because it brought credibility to the work we are doing to help businesses grow and succeed in this tough economy. We were told by local companies that credit unions are not known for their expertise in business lending. This award offered us the opportunity to showcase our efforts to local businesses and create awareness not only for our credit union, but for all credit unions across the region.
